Tract books of canal land sales, 1830-1927.

Tract books list town lots and other land sold by canal officials. All volumes contain purchasers' names; sold tract's legal descriptions; acreage sold and price per acre; and total purchase price. In addition some volumes variously list receipt numbers; patent receipt names; patent numbers; patent issuing canal officer name and title; patent issuance dates; installment payment record; interest charged to installment buyers; appraised tract valuation; and purchaser residence at sale time.
